Re: ISP Decimator G-String II « Reply #29 on: August 13, 2013, 10:09:04 PM » I did see someone recommend as a last resort placing the G-string first in the chain and then all the noisy pedals after it (e.g., overdrive, distortion) and then into the DEC IN and out the DEC OUT on the G-String again before the amp.

So over the weekend I sold my ISP Decimator with the thinking I would buy the ISP Decimator G-String, thinking it would not only work the same way, but better, and and also allow going through the effects loop to quiet the amp to silence. (similar to the Boss NS-2).

While this option, like the G-String, still listens to the original clean signal (the first Decimator in the signal chain does this, and, via the link cable, sends that info to the 2nd Decimator), it also eliminates (gates) the noise between notes on the clean signal. with the G-String however, it has guitar in, guitar out, decimator in, decimator out. However, if you do not want to use the Effects loop, this pedal is useless. It must go through the loop in order for it to actually do anything, and, i found it only worked somewhat ok when doing so. The G-String version of the pedal is the ultimate incarnation, as it is designed to work in the series effects loop of an amplifier, and allows the user to keep dirty pedals in need of decimation isolated from their collection of pristine, genteel delays and reverbs.
