Structural mechanics course

This course covers the fundamental concepts of structural mechanics with applications to marine, civil, and mechanical structures. Topics include analysis of small deflections of beams, moderately large deflections of beams, columns, cables, and shafts; elastic and plastic buckling of columns, thin walled sections and plates; exact and approximate

Bending, shear, and torsion of This course has been designed to cover the key topics that students first encounter when studying structural mechanics. Based on my experience teaching engineering undergraduates, the course focuses on those areas students find particularly tricky when starting out. Work Out Structural Mechanics covers a major area in first year civil, mechanical and building courses.

This course demonstrates how we can apply the method to structural analysis and mechanics. We'll help you to understand the fundamental principles of finite element technologies. You'll also develop an appreciation of some advanced aspects, and be able to demonstrate their application through the solution of a number of simulations. ECSA CPD approved course (2 credits) - SAIMechE-1348-11/22 COURSE OBJECTIVES The aim of the course is to combine a number of disciplines in structural mechanics that tend to be taught in isolation, but which can seldom be treated in isolation for real structures.
